Requirements :

  • Grade 12 certificate, Pharmacist assistant Basic Certificate; Current registration with SA Pharmacy Council as a qualified Pharmacist assistant Basic. Experience: For Grade 1; no experience required after registration with SAPC as a Pharmacist Assistant Basic. For Grade 2, a minimum of 5 years appropriate experience after registration with the SAPC as a Pharmacist Assistant Basic. For Grade 3, a minimum of 10 years appropriate experience after registration as a Pharmacist Assistant Basic with the SAPC. Basic communication skills, good interpersonal skills, basic administrative skills e.g. filling, record keeping, basic calculation skills, basic literacy skills, record keeping skills, basic research/data collection and analysis skills, basic teamwork skills, basic technical work skills, time management skills, basic problem solving and decision-making skills.

Duties :

  • Understanding and complying with all relevant legislation and policies to provide a quality cost effective service, including HR and treasury regulations and policies. Observing all Batho Pele principles and adherence to six ministerial priorities. Ordering, receiving, storage, issuing and distributing stock, stock control and distribution of medicines to all outlets (including PHC clinics as and when a need arise) we are serving, Pre-packing, and compounding, doing wards inventory management, dispensing and the provision of information to individuals, in line with your scope of practice under the direct supervision of a pharmacist. Doing records keeping, documentation and reporting. Participating in the monitoring and evaluation teams. Assisting with projects and programmes as identified in the pharmacy. Taking effective and appropriate steps to prevent any unauthorized expenditure, irregular expenditure and fruitless and wasteful expenditure. Performing any legitimate task requested for provision of pharmaceutical care. Willingness and involvement in clinical trials as and when a need arises. Willingness to work at the service points where you are needed the most and at the time when you are needed the most. Willingness to deliver medicines to PHC clinics as and when required. BE WILLING TO WORK FLEXIBLE HOURS (10:30 – 19:00 or any shift the employer may prescribe). Willingness to perform overtime as and when a need arises.
