Minimum of Grade 10/Abet level 4/ equivalent education qualification. Minimum of Grade 10/Abet level 4/ equivalent education qualification. Appropriate qualification or prescribed in-service training with duration of less than 2-years that allows for required registration with HPCSA in Orthotics and Prosthetics field. Current registration and registration certificate with Health Professions Council of South Africa as a Medical Orthotist and prosthetist assistant. A sound knowledge and skills in orthotic and prosthetic device manufacturing procedures. A sound knowledge and skills in orthotic and prosthetic device manufacturing procedures.
Duties :
-
Assist MOP Clinicians to prepare material and tools for measuring patients. Assist MOP Clinicians to modify or correct patient measurements. Assist MOP Clinicians to Mold orthoses, laminate prosthetic sockets, bend and weld metal bars for calipers. Assist MOP Clinicians to cut and assemble the Orthotic and prosthetic device. Assist MOP Clinicians to clean each area involved in stages of production. Assist MOP Clinicians to adjust and repair O & P devices. Assist MOP Clinicians to perform administrative duties service including collection of statistics for production work and completing job cards. Assist to Maintain machinery and other equipment used in the MOP Centre. Participate in general cleaning of the MOP Centre. Adhere to HPCSA regulations and attend staff development programs within the MOP field. Perform any other reasonable duties delegated by supervisor from time to time within the MOP Assistant's scope of practice.
