Requirements :

  • Occupational Therapy degree. Registration with HPCSA as an Occupational Therapist. Current registration with the HPCSA. Knowledge of service legislation, policies and procedures. Good written and verbal communication skills. Ability to work independently, interact with patients, other therapists, family members/caregivers and others. Ability to interact and be a member of a multidisciplinary team. Analytical thinking, independent decision-making and problem-solving skills. Good time management skills and willingness to rotate within the substructure and perform relief duties.

Duties :

  • Render Occupational Therapy services by assessing and treating all adult or paediatric patients with physical or psychiatric disorders, within the allocated clinical load. Assist with other clinical loads as needed. Ensure provision of quality occupational therapy services that comply with the standards and norms as indicated by Health Policies. Partake in allocated administrative duties. Adhere to provincial, hospital and departmental policies, procedures, guidelines and regulations. Participate in quality assurance methods. Identify and report on risks. Communicate effectively with all stakeholders. Follow the correct channels of communication. Oversee allocated officials. Facilitate and participate in professional and generic CPD activities/programmes. Plan, supervise and execute student training. Exercise care with all equipment and consumables. Coordinate and manage OT services for a designated area. People management of rehabilitation care workers, students and volunteers. Liaise and collaborate with stakeholders. Screen, assess and intervene as required to appropriate levels of care.
