Requirements :

• B Tech in Clinical Technology (Cardiology). Registration with HPCSA as a Clinical technologist, and proof of current registration. Competency in catheterization laboratory work for both adult and paediatric cardiology. Computer literacy. A minimum of 3 years’ appropriate experience after registration with the HPCSA in the relevant profession, of which 5 years must be appropriate managerial. Good communication skills (verbal and written). Prior participation in research will be an added advantage.

Duties :

• The duties will all be performed in the cardiology department, including performance of commuted overtime. Duties will include assisting in performance of invasive cathlab procedures (angiogram, pacemaker implants, pressure monitoring, saturation run etc.). Performance of non-invasive procedures like holter ECG, stress tests, pacemaker interrogation and echocardiogram will cover the scope of work, among others. The applicants will manage and facilitate the training/supervision of junior members of the team e.g clinical technologists. Stock management, oversee equipment maintenance/repair and purchase of new equipment (assist with equipment specifications). Necessary administrative work like monthly reports, record keeping and assisting with some protocols. Collaboration with other healthcare professionals on research projects.
