Minimum of Grade 10/Abet level 4/equivalent educational qualification. Appropriate qualification (with duration of at least 2 years or prescribed in - service training (with duration of at least 2 years that allows for the required registration with the Health Professional Council of South Africa (HPCSA), as an Orthopaedic and Prosthetic Assistant. Sound knowledge of relevant field and manufacturing procedures. Orthopaedic and Prosthetic Assistant Grade 1: None after obtaining an appropriate qualification or prescribed in - service training that allows for the required registration with the Health Professional Council of South Africa (HPCSA), as required in South Africa. Orthopaedic and Prosthetic Assistant Grade 2: Minimum of 10 years relevant experience after registration with the Health Professional Council of South Africa (HPCSA) as an Orthopaedic and Prosthetic Assistant in respect of RSA qualified employees with duration of at least 2 years that allows for the required registration with the Health Professional Council of South Africa (HPCSA). Proof of current registration with the HPCSA from 01 April 2026 to 31 March 2027.
Duties :

Consult and assist the medical orthotist/prosthetist in the manufacture and repair appliances per patient need. Deliver efficient and effective hand skills and related administrative service including record keeping of work allocated and completing job cards. Maintain machinery and other equipment used. (Weekly cleaning routine, empty dustpan, etc.) Adhere to HPCSA regulations and attend developmental programmes within the industry. Perform any other duties delegated by supervisor from time to time within normal scope of practice.
