Minimum requirement is Grade 10. Having the ability to read, write, and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos experience in a clinical/hospital/porter environment will be an added advantage. Inherent requirements and skills: Willingness to work shifts including nightshifts, weekends, and public holidays. Experience in porter will be an added advantage. Rotate in different departments according to operational needs and requirements. Be physically fit to perform tasks such as lifting patients from beds or onto benches and wheelchairs. Competencies (knowledge/skills): Verbal and non-verbal communication skills. Good telephone etiquette and ability to maintain confidentiality. Basic understanding of safety and hygiene principles. Poses physical strength and cope with the demands of the position. Preference will be given to EPWP trainees, COVID-19 participants, and administrative interns who served and are still serving the Department according to Personnel Circular Letter 4 of 2017.
Duties :
-
Responsible for transporting patients from registration points to different clinical areas within the hospital. Transport corpses from the wards to the mortuary. Ensure accurate completion of the mortuary register. Assist in offloading and loading of patients from ambulances and private cars to the stretchers/wheelchairs. Cleaning of stretchers and wheelchairs after use at all times Ensures patient safety when transporting them. Reporting of faulty equipment to the supervisor for repair and ensuring that they are stored properly. Always keep equipment readily available. Perform any duties allocated by supervisor, to be involved with administrative procedures of the mortuary and to adhere to correct protocols when dealing with public and bereaved familie.
