Appropriate qualification that allows registration with the Health Professions Council of South Africa (HPCSA) as Clinical Psychologist (Independent Practice). Registration with the HPCSA as Clinical Psychologist and proof of current registration. Completion of community service as a Clinical Psychologist as required in South Africa. Experience: post-community service will be advantageous. Knowledge of legislation applicable to Clinical Psychology e.g., the Mental Healthcare Act and the Child Care Act. Applicants must have good analytical, report writing and communication skills (both written and verbal). Applicants must be computer literate and have time management skills. Experience in a Public Health Service environment would be an added advantage. Applicants must have a valid driver’s license
Duties :
-
Render psychological services i.e., mental health promotion and psychoeducation, prevention, and management of mental health disorders; psychological assessment (including psychometric assessment); diagnosis where appropriate, and psychological interventions (including provision of psychological interventions to children, adolescents, and adults in the form of individuals, couples, parents, family and group counselling and psychotherapy). Provide consultation-liaison and crisis management services within the hospital. Render psychological services as an effective member of a multi-disciplinary team. Provide training and supervision (where appropriate) to psychology students, interns, community service psychologists and psychiatry registrars. Academic responsibilities as joint appointee with WITS Department of Psychiatry, including attendance of required training seminars, supervision, and journal discussions, as well as research and teaching responsibilities where appropriate and required. Participation in Continued Professional Development. Administration and recordkeeping responsibilities. Participation in assigned Psychology Department activities, programmes, and projects.
