Requirements :

• Senior Certificate / Grade 12 qualification Basic R425 or R683 qualification (Degree/Diploma in General nursing that allows registration with the South African nursing council as a professional nurse.) proof of current registration with SANC. A minimum of 5 years appropriate /recognizable experience in nursing after registration with the SANC as Professional Nurse with minimum 2 years of experience in a theatre environment. Have Strong understanding of surgical procedures and patient safety protocols.

Duties :

• Scrubbing for different surgical procedures Plan and organise and the objectives of the unit. Provide comprehensive and quality nursing care as a member of the multi-disciplinary team according to the identified needs of the patient. Serves as an advocate for the patient. Verify the patient’s identity, surgical site, and consent form before the procedure. Maintain a vigilant eye on the patient’s vital signs throughout the procedure and promptly communicate any changes to the surgical team. Supervise and support junior staff in the execution of patient care delivery. Liaise and communicate with the multi-disciplinary team within the hospital. Provide accurate record keeping and statistical information of all procedure performed in his/ her theatre. Monitoring utilisation of resources with emphasis on cost containment. Order and monitor appropriate levels of consumables, according to norms and standards. Check all equipment to ensure working order and refer for repairs. Assist with relief duties of the supervisors.
