Requirements :

• Appropriate medical degree that allows registration with the HPCSA as a medical practitioner. GRADE 1: No experience required. GRADE 2: A minimum of 5 years appropriate experience as Medical Officer after registration with the HPCSA as a medical officer in a normal speciality. GRADE 3: A minimum of 10 years appropriate experience as medical officer after registration with the HPCSA as a medical officer in a normal specialty. Ability to manage a team of junior and senior doctors. Ability to establish excellent working relationships with all the surgical disciplines. Good leadership skills, excellent communication (verbal and written) skills, conflict resolution and good interpersonal skills. The successful candidate must be adaptable, disciplined, and self-confident. The candidate must be able to work independently and under pressure and beyond normal working hours and work with diverse team. Ability to work in a multi-disciplinary team. Knowledge of legislation, policies and procedures pertaining to health care users. Computer literacy. Experience in the public sector would be an advantage.

Duties :

• Paediatrics services to patients from various surgical disciplines. Work in the 6-bed intensive care unit. Participate in commuted overtime. Train and supervise medical interns and undergraduate students. Adhere to Standard. Operating Procedures (SOPs) and protocols. Maintain Quality Assurance Standards, attend and participate in mortality and morbidity meetings. Comply with Performance Management and Development System (PMDS) assessments.
