Requirements :

  • Grade 12 plus Bachelor’s degree in Engineering /Bachelor of Science degree in Agricultural/Civil Engineering (NQF Level 7) 6 years post qualification experience in Agricultural engineering. Compulsory registration with ECSA as a Professional Engineer. Valid driver’s licence. COMPETENCES: Relevant Public Service Legislation. GDARD and GPG policies. Research Methodologies. Strategic Planning. Knowledge of GPG executive and political structure. Creating high performance culture. Programme and project management. Maintenance skills and knowledge.

Duties :

  • Development of all agriculture infrastructure specifications and implementation thereof. Provide strategic engineering advice and technical oversight for agricultural and rural infrastructure development and sustainable resource programmes. Perform final review and approvals or audits on new engineering designs according to design principles or theory. Co-ordinate design efforts and integration across disciplines to ensure seamless integration with current technology. Manage the execution of maintenance strategy through the provision of appropriate structures, systems and resources. Set engineering maintenance standards, specifications and service levels according to organizational objectives to ensure optimum operational availability. Allocate, control, monitor and report on all resources. Compile risk logs and manages significant risk according to sound risk management practice and organizational requirements. Provide technical consulting services for the operation on engineering related matters to minimize possible engineering risks Manage and implement knowledge sharing initiatives. short-term assignments and secondments within and across operations, in support of individual development plans, operational requirements and return on investment. Manage funds in the Directorate in compliance with Public Finance Management Act and the Treasury Regulations. Limit under spending or overspending by the Directorate in terms of the departmental budget allocations.
