Requirements :

  • Matric plus an undergraduate qualification (NQF level 6/7) as recognized by SAQA in Public Relations/ Journalism/Marketing/ or any relevant qualification. A minimum of 1-2 years relevant experience in communication environment. Possession of a valid driver’s license. Skills & Competencies: The incumbent should have knowledge & understanding of the public service / business, writing articles, knowledge of performance improvement strategies, writing opinion piece and articles, relevant legislations relating to Communication, report writing & consolidation, media monitoring & scanning. Planning, organising and executing skills, financial management skills, strategic capability & leadership, language proficiency, client orientation and customer focus, conflict management skills and problem-solving analysis. Good verbal and written communication skills.

Duties :

  • Contribute to current and emerging online digital social media platforms. Daily social media content monitoring, responding to social media queries, research and posting. Contribute to the development of online specific multimedia infographics for all media platforms. Contribute to website editorial input and overall maintenance. Strengthen and enhance the Department’s profile through all platforms digital and traditional. Provide general content and media support to the Unit. Assist from a digital point of view with proactive and efficient media engagements across all platforms. In addition, contribute to the development of key content products like media plans, advisories, social media plans and messages. Upload content in the website and Intranet. Ensure the department website is updated regularly with: Breaking news articles, media alerts, statements and media gallery. Daily media monitoring and analysis. Conduct photography and videography services. Attend and cover all the MEC’s outreach projects and departmental events by providing photography & videography supports. Edit pictures for the external publication & internal marketing materials. Profiling of beneficiaries. Write articles for newsflash and departmental magazine. Contribute content on social media pages. Respond to enquiries from social media.
