Requirements :

  • Grade 12/National Senior Certificate or equivalent. Registered with the South African Nursing Council (SANC) as a General Nurse and Midwife or R.425 programme, Diploma/ Degree in Nursing Education and Administration. A Master’s degree in Nursing. Clinical masters will be an added advantage. Post Basic Diploma qualification in R.48 or R.212 registered with SANC. Minimum of 9 years of appropriate/ recognizable nursing experience after registration as a Professional Nurse and Midwife/ Accoucheur. Two (2) of the required experience years must be in the appropriate specialty, with a minimum of five years of experience as a Post-Basic Nurse Educator in the Nursing Education Institution (NEI). Must have an Assessor and Moderator certificates. Valid driver’s license. Computer literacy/ certificate is required (Word, PowerPoint, Excel). Knowledge of Human resources and Finance Management, current changes in Nursing Education, curriculum development, accreditation processes, and experience in planning, organizing, evaluating, leading, and controlling. Good with supervisory, report writing, and presentation skills.

Duties :

  • The candidate should be able to: Develop a curriculum and supporting documents to meet accreditation requirements with SANC and Council on Higher Education (CHE). Coordinate the provision of education and training of specialist Student Nurses. Manage clinical learning exposure of students. Develop and monitor the implementation of Quality Assurance programs. Orientate, supervise and implement the Performance Development Management System (PMDS) policy on Academic staff and Students. Monitor and evaluate the implementation of academic programmes (theory and clinical ). Develop, evaluate, review and implement policies and circulars. Display effective and efficient utilization of Information, Communication, and Technology (ICT). Implement appropriate decision-making and problem-solving strategies. Supervise the formative and summative assessments of students in accordance with the Assessment and Moderation policy of the institution. The candidate should participate in all academic activities. Collaborate with other stakeholders and build a sound relationship within the department. Participate in the daily management of the Campus. Adhere to the Public Service Code of Conduct including the dress code. Be knowledgeable about current changes in Nursing Education and Training.
