MBChB, FCEM, MMed in Emergency Medicine. Independent Practice registration with the Health Professions Council of South Africa (HPCSA) as a Specialist. Research publication(s) in a peer reviewed journal.
Duties :
-
Service delivery in the Emergency unit of Steve Biko Academic Hospital. Supervision of Doctors managing P1 and P2 patients, also P3 patients in the triage section of the unit. Perform in-service training and M&M meetings. Supervision of and presenting cases during academic meetings. Training of medical students and nursing staff. Overtime duties are included and are a necessary part of the working hours in the Emergency unit. Specialist duties include CUP shifts-consultant supervision, ultrasound and procedures, auditing clinical notes , leading consultant ward rounds and problem solving solving in the EMU. Management of EMU overcrowding include interaction with nursing managers, hospital managers and public health teams. Duties including attendance of various hospital meetings where the EMU must be represented energetically. Various administrative duties are essential including the development and improvement/ review of SOP's, HR recruitment and retention, supervision of the PMDS system. Overtime will be done in SBAH EU and include on call week nights and weekends. Specialist duties include a joint appointment and include the supervision of Registrars including attendance of the progress committee on the Registrar, OSPE, training and education of Registrars and MMed research supervision.
