Requirements :

• MChD or MDent degree in any of the 6 dental specialties, with a minimum of 3 years’ appropriate work experience as dental specialist after registration with the HPCSA. Current HPCSA registration is a necessity as a dental specialist; OR a relevant master’s degree in dental sciences e.g MDS/MSc (Dentistry) with a minimum of 6 years appropriate work experience at an academic institution. Current HPCSA registration is a necessity as a dentist in independent practice. You need to have proven work experience in teaching, learning, clinical training and assessment, including curriculum development at undergraduate and postgraduate level, preferably in Integrated Clinical Dentistry. Management experience in service and teaching is also a requirement for this position. Experience in research, with a minimum of 3 peer reviewed articles in DHET accredited journals. Presentation at conferences (international/local) will be an added advantage.

Duties :

• As a Head of the Department, the successful candidate will manage the ICD Department within the School of Oral Health Sciences and SMU Oral Health Centre. The successful candidate will also provide management and oversight of academic and clinical activities in the Department, including the management of staff in the teaching of Integrated Clinical Dentistry (ICD) to BDS, BOH and BDT students in all years of study. The incumbent will be requested to provide management oversight to all patients managed by staff in ICD. The incumbent requires to provide leadership in research in the Department
