Requirements :

  • Basic R425 qualification (diploma / degree in nursing) or equivalent qualification that allows registration with the SANC as a Professional Nurse. Current registration with the South African Nursing Council (SANC) as Registered Nurse. A minimum of two (2) years’ experience in a TOP department after completion of community service. Short course certificate in termination of pregnancy will be an added advantage. The successful candidate must provide nursing care as part of the multidisciplinary team. Actively participate in decision-making, actively participate in morbidity and mortality meetings relevant to the department and act in the best interest of quality patient care in a mother and child hospital. Good communication skills (verbal and written). Report writing skills, co-ordination skills, and problem-solving skills. Grade 1: A minimum of two (2) years’ experience in a TOP department after completion of community service. Grade 2: A minimum of 10 years appropriate/recognisable experience in nursing after registration as Professional Nurse with the SANC in General Nursing which includes a minimum of two (2) years’ experience in a TOP department.

Duties :

  • Supervise and ensure the provision of an effective patient care through adequate nursing care. Demonstrate an in-depth understanding of nursing legislation and related legal and ethical practices. Provide relevant health information to health care users to assist on achieving optimal health care and rehabilitation of patients. Maintain constructive working relationships with nursing other stakeholders (inter-professional, inter-sectoral and multidisciplinary teamwork). Participate in the analysis, formulation of nursing guidelines, practices, standards, and procedures. Provide nursing care as part of the multidisciplinary team and actively participate in decision making to the best interest of quality patient care in a mother and child hospital.
