MBChB degree and Registration with the HPCSA as a Medical Practitioner (Independent Practice) Knowledge, Skills, Training and Competences Required: Sound clinical knowledge, competency and skills in general clinical domains. Experience in the Nuclear Medicine, Radiology, Radiation oncology or equivalent would be an added advantage. Multidisciplinary management and teamwork. The ability to work independently as well as under supervision as an efficient team member. IT skills. Good communication, leadership, interpersonal, and supervisory skills. Knowledge of current health policies, legislation, programmes and priorities within the domain. Ability to teach, guide and junior staff within the department.
Duties :
-
Rendering of patient care during and after working hours, including clerking and preparation of all patients prior to imaging; planning of patient imaging protocols; scanning of patients where required; assess patients post-scan prior to discharge; attending to all consent as required. Assisting with patient management and scanning including, injections, cardiac stresses, other patient-related queries, and problems. Radionuclide therapy clinic and patient preparation, administration, in-patient and post-discharge care, including attending to emergencies where needed. Assist with blood collection and cannulation for both scan and therapy patients. Reviewing of scans at cameras, reporting and approving with consultants. Participation in learning, teaching of staff, undergraduate, allied and junior registrars. Active presentation in multidisciplinary meetings and conference proceedings. Active participation in research.
