Requirements :

  • A Basic R425 qualification (i.e., diploma/ degree in nursing) or equivalent qualification that allows registration with the South African Nursing Council (SANC) as Professional Nurse plus a post basic qualification in Occupational Health and Safety Nursing. Current registration with SANC is a requirement. A minimum of 4 years appropriate/recognisable experience in nursing after registration as Professional Nurse with SANC in General Nursing. Must be computer literate. Preference will be given to candidates with relevant working experience. Knowledge/ course in an integrated Employee Health and Wellness programme will be an advantage. Strong writing and policy development skills. Ability to work under pressure and in changing environments. Ability to work independently with good interpersonal skills. Knowledge and understanding of all Nursing Legislation and Health Acts. Must work within the legal and ethical framework that governs the nursing profession and public service employees. The Professional Nurse must provide nursing care as part of the multidisciplinary team and actively participate in decision making.

Duties :

  • Provision of optimal, holistic specialised nursing care with set standards and within a professional/ legal framework. Effective utilisation of Human and Material resources. Participation in training and research. Provision of support to Nursing Services. Maintain professional growth, ethical standards, and self-development. Promotion of a scientific, high quality nursing care that is cost effective and efficient.
