Bachelor's degree/BTech or National Diploma qualification in Medical Orthotics and Prosthetics. Current Independent Practitioner Registration with Health Professions Council of South Africa as a Medical Orthotist and Prosthetist (MOP). A minimum of three (3) years’ experience in the Orthotics and Prosthetics field after registration with HPCSA. Knowledge of Public Service Act and its Regulations, Labour Relations Act, Occupational Health and Safety Act, Basic Conditions of Employment Act. Computer literacy skills. Good communication and interpersonal skills. Problem solving and conflict management skills. Human Resources Management and Development skills. Research and innovation skills. Ability to work under pressure. A valid Driver’s licence will be an added advantage.
Duties :
-
Supervise all aspects of Human Resources and Orthotics and Prosthetics and Orthopaedic Footwear production. Delegate staff and development clinical and production service delivery schedules. Participate in production work by Designing, measuring, manufacturing, fitting, repairing and adjusting all O & P devices. Consult with Allied practitioners and members of medical team on proper issuing of O & P device for each patient. Assist to monitor, report and resolve all patient complaints about O & P services. Assist to conduct O & P device use safety and satisfaction of the patients. Assist to manage and control orthotics and prosthetics inventory. Assist in MOP Centre administrative functions including patient record keeping, data collection and establishment of outreach clinics. Conduct MOP Centre health and safety assessments. Conduct equipment and machine operation assessment. Monitor production tools issued to the staff. Provide and supervise the training of students MOPs and In-service trainees. Assist student MOPs to identify research topics within the MOP Centre for progressive quality improvement. Assist to encourage staff continuous career and professional development within the MOP centre. Participate in MOP Centre meetings and perform duties delegated by the Centre Manager including acting position as Centre Manager. Assist in planning of staff leave of absence to ensure consistent and uninterrupted service delivery in the MOP Centre. • Assist to monitor staff health and safety in the MOP Centre and organize staff wellness events.
