Requirements :

• MBChB. FCP(SA) or MMed Internal Medicine. Current Registration with HPCSA as Medical Specialist and/or Subspecialist: Category- Independent. At least 3 years’ experience as a Medical Specialist and/or Subspecialist in Internal Medicine. Form part of the after-hours specialist cover for the Internal Medicine Department, to provide a 24hr clinical service. Competencies: Must have a strong record of clinical governance; clinical expertise; research and experience of supervision, training and teaching at both under- and post-graduate levels. Publication record will be an added advantage. Must have good interpersonal, leadership, administrative, communication, analytical and problem-solving skills.

Duties :

• Efficient co-ordination of Internal Medicine Services in General Internal Medicine Unit and/or Subspecialty Unit Clinical – Comprehensive Patient Care, Supervise Internal Medicine Registrars, MOs, Interns and Students, Conduct ward rounds, OPD work, Intra-and Interdisciplinary and Inter-institutional Consultations Outreach – Facilitate outreach to Level 1 and 2 Health facilities Management/Administrative – Specialty and/or Subspecialty Management/ Administrative Duties including Clinical and Academic Governance Duties. Teaching – Organize and supervise clinical and theoretical teaching of undergraduate and postgraduate students. Participate in University teaching programs and examinations. Research – Perform Own and Supervise Higher degrees: MMed, MSc or PhD Meetings – Participate in Academic, Hospital Administrative/Management meetings, Department of Health and University as allocated by the Supervisor.
