Requirements :

  • Appropriate four-year BSc Dietetics or BSc Dietetics Degree. Registration with HPCSA as in dependent dietician practitioner after completion of the one-year mandatory community service. Candidates should have sound knowledge of dietetic principles, including nutritional assessment and Intervention. Good verbal and written communication skills. Ability to work in a team. Ability to work under pressure in a changing environment. Experience in Food service, Mother Baby Friendly Initiative, Mental nutrition or Early Childhood Intervention will be an added advantage.

Duties :

  • To provide and monitor optimal nutrition care for both in- and out-patients through rendering effective patient and family-centered dietetic services while adhering to the scope of practice, National and Provincial strategies, policies, and health protocols. Implement nutritional assessment and intervention for patients through using evidence-based nutritional principles for individual or group of patients to meet their specific nutritional requirements. Evaluate and monitor the implementation of the nutrition care intervention on patients and adapt as necessary. Improve professional competence by regular self-evaluation and participating in continuous professional development. Collaborate with other stakeholders through wards rounds, meetings and appropriate referrals for patients. Participate in related activities or project as per departmental operational plan, e.g., training of students and staff as well as marketing of dietetic services. Implement quality assurance measures through auditing of standards and implementation of corrective measures. Perform all administrative functions required for the job, e.g., recordkeeping, data collection, budget control, assets management.
