Requirements :

  • Basic R425 qualifications (Diploma/Degree in Nursing) or equivalent qualification that allows registration with the SANC as a professional Nurse. A minimum of 7 years appropriate/recognizable experience in nursing after registration as Professional Nurse with the SANC in General Nursing. Proof of current registration with SANC. 5 years’ experience working in PHC facilities must have knowledge of Adult Primary Care guideline Computer literacy, Microsoft word, PowerPoint and presentation skills. Good communication, sound interpersonal skill, problem solving and decision making. Good interpersonal, leadership and conflict management skills. Must have a valid Driver’s license.

Duties :

  • Demonstrate an in depth understanding of nursing legislation and related legal and ethical nursing practices and how this impacts on service delivery. Ensure clinical nursing practice by the nursing team(unit) in accordance with the scope of practice and nursing standards. Promote quality of nursing care as directed by the professional scope of practice and standards as determined by the relevant health facility. Demonstrate a basic understanding of HR and financial policies and practices. Facilitate and coordinate NCD and geriatric programme in the sub district by ensuring delivery of the key strategic objectives of the District Health System and Gauteng department of health. Assess learning needs of officials in PHC facilities in both theory and practical on management of NCD’s and Geriatrics. Coordinate LTDOT (Long Term Domiciliary Oxygen Therapy) Services. Execute formal duties within the department of health context and submit quality programme reports according to set dates. Adhere to Batho Pele principle and improve team strategy. Establish a constructive working relationship with other stake holders (Inter-professional, inter-sectorial and multidisciplinary team). Participate in research processes and analysis. Have knowledge on older people’s Act no 13 of 2006, ideal clinic and national strategic plan for prevention and control of NCD’s.
