Requirements :

  • Valid Degree in B. Optom (with diagnostic privilege), matric certificate, proof of registration with HPCSA as an independent optometrist and proof of current registration with the HPCSA. Good verbal and written communication, ability to work in a team ability to work under pressure and work closely with other disciplines.

Duties :

  • Provide quality eye care screening as a primary eye care practitioner, to promote good health practice & ensure optimal patient care. Execute all optometry procedures completely to prevent complications. Perform general administrative duties as required. Promote Batho pele principles in the execution of all duties for effective service delivery. Provide guidance and supervision to junior staff. Participate in institutional independent optometrist policy making and planning for service delivery. Participate in departmental quality assurance, quality improvement and Ideal Hospital. Work as part of multi-disciplinary team in the ophthalmology department. Participate in continued professional development programme.
