Requirements :

• A degree (MBCHB) FCA(SA) or equivalent, Registration with HPCSA as a Medical Specialist in Anesthesia. Proof of current registration with HPCSA as a Medical Specialist.

Duties :

• Management of designated areas of responsibility within the Anesthesia department at Tembisa Hospital; conducting of clinics, ward rounds and consultations to other disciplines. Developing of protocols and guidelines for patient management. Performance of procedures relevant to the discipline. Provide quality cost effective and efficient 24-hours Anesthetic services in Tembisa Hospital in keeping with Batho-Pele Principles. Maintain accurate and appropriate health records in accordance with the above. Assist with the training and guidance of Medical Interns, Medical Officers, and other relevant staff categories. Supervision of/ and participation in postgraduate and undergraduate training. Participation in the academic programs of the department. Conducting relevant research within the department and performing regular audits of the department. Knowledge, Skills and Competencies: Good leadership and management skills, sound communication (verbal and written) skills, decision making, conflict resolution and good interpersonal skills. The successful candidate must be able to work independently and under pressure and beyond normal working hours and work with a diverse team. Clinical skills set and experience to manage high volume patient numbers. Have an understanding of basic Financial and Human Resource Management. Manage own PMDS and that of subordinates.
