Requirements :

Diploma/degree in Nursing as a Professional Nurse accredited with the South African Nursing Council in terms of Government Notice 425. A minimum of 8 years appropriate/recognisable experience in nursing after registration as a Professional Nurse with the South African Nursing Council in General Nursing. At least 3 years of the period referred to above must be appropriate/recognisable experience at management level as an Operational Manager. Diploma/degree in Nursing Management is mandatory, Knowledge of Health, Nursing and Public Service Legislation is recommended. Strong leadership skills, computer literacy, good communication and sound interpersonal skills are necessary.
Duties :
-
Provide effective supervision and leadership for staff in allocated clinical areas in line with all relevant legislation and prescripts. Delegate, supervise and co-ordinate the provision of effective and efficient patient care through adequate nursing care. Initiate and participate in health promotion to ensure consistent communication of relevant, accurate and comprehensive information on health care. Develop/establish and maintain constructive working relationships with nursing and other stakeholders (i.e., inter-professional, inter-sectoral and multi-disciplinary teamwork). Participate in the analysis, formulation and implementation of nursing guidelines, practices, standards, and procedures. Manage Human Resources. Monitor and ensure proper utilization of financial and physical resources. Provision of effective support to Nursing Services. Initiate programs that will ensure quality nursing care. Participate in the analysis, formulation of nursing guidelines, norms and standards. Ensure implementation monitoring and promotion of Quality Assurance programs (Daily patient opinion survey, complaints management, patient safety management, patient waiting times), Infection Prevention and Control and Health and Safety principles. Promote quality nursing care as directed by Office of Health Standard Compliance (OHSC) & Ideal Hospital Realization and Maintenance Framework. Implement relevant recommendations and priorities of the National Strategic plan for Nurse education, training, and Practice. Participate in after hour call, day/night supervision, shifts and weekends as per service need. Participate in development and implementation of the Hospital Operational Plan. Monitor performance using Performance Management and Development System.
