Appropriate qualification that allows for the required registration with the Health Professional Council of South Africa (HPCSA) in the Audiology OR (Dual) Speech and Audiology profession. (RSA: No experience required after registration with the HPCSA in the Audiology and Speech and Audiology profession in respect of RSA qualified employees who performed community service in Audiology OR Speech and Audiology profession as required in South Africa. Knowledge: Public Service Act and Regulations. Batho-Pele principles. Quality Assurance. Labour relations: Disciplinary and Conflict Management Procedures. Skills: Communication (written and verbal). Ability to work under pressure in a challenging environment, Interpersonal, Listening skills and Computer Literacy. Documenting patient information, statistics, reports, attending ward rounds, discussions and meeting within a multidisciplinary team. Contributing to service development by monitoring, evaluating and co-ordinating existing and new services and developing management protocols for improved patients care. To comply with all departmental procedures and protocols. To manage all resources appropriately. To participate in all departmental, hospital and provincial activities. To work with in an MDT approach including attendance and participation in MDT meeting.
Duties :
-
To carry out a broad range of audiological procedures in accordance with best practice guidelines. To ensure that clinical resources are maintained according to protocols, which includes biological checks and reporting of faults. Assessing, diagnosing and managing patients within a multidisciplinary team setting. Planning and problem solving appropriately. Providing education and counselling to patients, family and caregivers. Selecting, issuing and training appropriate use of assistive devices. Monitoring and reviewing patient progress.
