Requirements :

  • Appropriate qualification that allows registration with the HPCSA as Medical Practitioner and proof of current registration. A minimum of 4 years’ appropriate experience as a Medical Officer after registration with the HPCSA as a Medical Practitioner. Valid code 8/10 driver’s licence is essential. Proven experience in clinical services with ability to lead, manage and transfer skills to all Medical Officers at PHC level. PERSONAL PROFILE: Excellent time management, organizational skills, good communication and goal orientated. Self-motivated, analytical and solution driven. Ability to communicate effectively with technical and non-technical personnel at various levels in the organization.

Duties :

  • Support the Family Medicine Unit in the management of District Medical Officers and ensure Human Resource Development through training activities in the District. Provide management and clinical support in the provision of after-hours service coverage by Medical Officers. Ensure leadership and clinical guidance in the provision of quality clinical services within a Sub – District complex. Provide leadership and clinical support to the extension of HAST, communicable disease and non-communicable disease programs and clinical forensic Medico – Legal services in the District. Render clinical expertise to the District PILIR and quality assurance programs. Interpret, disseminate and implement Department policies related to core clinical standards and support Family Medicine in the development of clinical audits, protocols, guidelines and referral support. Sign performance contract on annual basis. Take part in Gauteng Turnaround Strategy, PHC Re-engineering and Establishment of the Sub –District. Overall management of clinical services in the entire District in accordance with departmental standards including after – hours as delegated. Training and development of staff in the relevant sections. Performance management and supervision of the subordinates. Conduct regular clinical audits and develop, implement and monitor action plans. Develop, monitor and analyze budget and financial information and utilization of all resources in an effective and efficient manner. Practice effective problem identification and resolution skills as a method of sound decision making. Must be prepared to work under pressure and after – hours duties as per commuted overtime policy. Preform any other duty as delegated by the Chief Director.
