Requirements :

  • Grade 12 Certificate and Relevant 3-year National Diploma/ Bachelor's Degree in Traffic Law Enforcement. Must be in possession of a Basic Traffic Diploma. Must be registered as traffic Officer (attach infrastructure). 3-5 years’ supervisory experience as a Principal Provincial Inspector. 7-10 years working experience in the traffic law enforcement field. Be in possession of a valid driving license (code B/C1/C/EB/EC/EC1). No criminal record or pending cases. Knowledge and Skills: Good record and resource management. Duties :

  • Manage joint law enforcement activities and projects (cooperative governance): Participate in planning of joint enforcement strategies and projects. Manage the execution of joint law enforcement strategies and projects. Evaluate and report on strategies and projects. Manage and enforce road traffic legislation and other relevant legislations: Develop operational strategies and ensure implementation of approved traffic law enforcement strategies. Ensure free flow of traffic through point duty and traffic control at contested areas, coordinate activities and safeguard accident scenes. Plan and manage speed testing operations. Coordinate and execution of arrests on traffic related matters, attend court proceedings and give evidence. Manage processes of issuing relevant notices to offenders. Enforce transport policing projects. Identify and advise relevant role players on hazardous locations. Manage escorting of abnormal vehicles and loads to ensure the safe movement thereof. Manage monitoring of road sports and social events and coordinate overload control management (including goods and passenger.Manage resources and provide leadership and direction to subordinates: Develop and maintain a monitoring system and ensure that balance is achieved regarding Senior Provincial Inspectors (SPI) and Provincial Inspectors (PIs) production, including statistics of production of SPIs and PIs. Implementation of innovation to improve working environment and conduct visitation to officers in the field. Assist with the updating of the environment analysis to ensure that it is used as baseline for planning. Perform basic management functions (planning, Organizing, leading and control). Conduct planning, feedback, evaluation and information sharing meeting with subordinates. Assist with Human Resource issues at the satellite office/corridor and coordinate staff contracting and performance appraisals. Manage the performance of administrative activities and related duties: Ensure that motor vehicles fleet is managed properly. Monitor state of equipment and assist with proactive replacement planning including identifying and monitoring members involved in accidents. Ensure effective loss control measures are in place to address loss of firearms and other related equipment and strive towards reducing the financial value of losses. Participate in the budget planning as required by satellite office/corridor manager. Produce monthly reports. Participate in budget control and management discussions and share information with members regarding the satellite office/corridor budget priorities. Respond to request from head office regarding outstanding financial queries within provided limit. Identify and manage risk: Identify relevant risks, develop plan to address risks. Implement and monitor plan, evaluate progress.
