Requirements :

  • Grade 12 or senior certificate. Bachelor of pharmacy degree or equivalent qualifications accredited by South African Pharmacy Council (SAPC) that allows registration as a pharmacist with the SAPC. Current registration with SAPC and designated as a practicing pharmacist (2024). A minimum of 4 years appropriate experience after registration as a pharmacist with SAPC. Supervisory skills, planning and organizing skills. Ability to work as a member of a multidisciplinary team. High level of reliability. Proficiency in Microsoft office. Experience in Rx solution stock management, dispensing and reporting modules. Supervisory experience within pharmacy related entities will be an added advantage. Valid South African driver’s license (Code B – must be able to drive a manual vehicle). Knowledge of supply chain management, financial management, human resource management (including a supervising and development service), dispensing requirements. Sound understanding of relevant Acts and Regulations, including Essential drug program, NHI, National Drug Policy, Pharmacovigilance and CCMDD program. Knowledge and understanding of Public Service Acts, Policies and Procedures pertaining to stock management, dispensing services and monitoring and evaluation. Candidate must reside in Tshwane Health District. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Ability to work under pressure, flexibility, innovative thinking skills, willingness to accept responsibility, decisiveness, ability to pay attention to detail, ability to communicate with colleagues and superiors, interpersonal skills, self driven and motivated. Sound leadership; negotiation skills; analytical skills; problem solving and project management skills. Achievement driven and self-motivated. Ability to interact with all key stakeholders within and outside the department. Must be a team player.

Duties :

  • Provide a comprehensive cost-effective Pharmaceutical service to patients/clients in line with National, Provincial and District strategies and priorities. Maintain control of pharmaceutical services in all areas of the Tshwane Regional Pharmacy. Ensure that required statistics and reports are compiled and submitted in time. The supervisor will be responsible for all staff and services that are required to be done. Responsibility and accountability for efficient management of procurement, storage, distribution, control and security of pharmaceutical stock and equipment allocated to the pharmacy, PHC facilities and all other relevant stakeholders. Promote rational medicine use and strengthen availability of medication in the pharmacy and in the PHC facilities in the district. Perform regular stock takes and financial reports according to requirements and legislation. Develop, implement, monitor adherence and provide training for standard operating procedures and policies for all aspects of pharmaceutical services in accordance with applicable legislation and regulations. Conduct service assessments, develop and implement quality improvement programs related to service delivery. Engage in effective communication with all stakeholders to ensure a high quality service is rendered to all clients and that requirements for all audits are met. Assist in co-ordination of activities of essential medicine programs including but not limited to Pharmacy and Therapeutics Committee in the District, Antimicrobial Stewardship, medicine utilization reviews, Ideal clinic and all GPP requirements at the Regional Pharmacy, PHC facilities and all other relevant stakeholders. Provide leadership, management and support to all staff under his/her supervision. Supervise the workflow in all areas allocated to the supervisor. Maintain discipline and deal with grievances and Labour Relation issues in line with procedures and policies. Provisioning of high quality pharmaceutical care at the Regional Pharmacy and PHC facilities in the district.. Project management, Human resource management, staff training and staff appraisals. In-depth knowledge of the National Drug Policy, all pharmacy legislation, the Public Finance Management Act, Labour Relations Act, Basic Conditions of Employment Act and other legislation applicable to the public sector. Participate in the implementation of, and compliance with the Good Pharmacy Practice in the pharmacy and audits from OHSC. Conduct regular audits in the Pharmacy. Adhere to all pharmacy policies and procedures. Deputize for the Responsible Pharmacist and or the District Pharmacist when necessary and effectively support the manager/s with administration of the pharmacy. Perform other duties as allocated by the pharmacy manager or district pharmacist as and when required. Be willing to undergo continuous training and development programs. Attend meetings and training as approved by the pharmacy manager and or the district pharmacist. Comply with Performance Management and Development System (contracting, reviews and final assessment).
