Grade 12 certificate with Basic R425 qualification (i.e diploma/degree in Nursing) or equivalent qualification that allows registration with the South African Nursing Council (SANC) as a Professional Nurse with Midwifery. Registration with SANC as Professional Nurse and current registration. Appropriate/recognizable experience in Infection Prevention and Control (IPC) will be added advantage. Knowledge and understanding of nursing and OHS regulations, policies and Acts. Computer literacy and driver’s license is essential. Ability to work independently in a multidisciplinary context.
Duties :
-
Active participation in development of clinical quality improvement programmes, policies, guidelines and indicators with regard to Infection Prevention and Control (IPC) risk assessment. Promote compliance and implement IPC safety standard programmes. Provide input within the district on the surveillance, prevention, investigation and control of infectious and notifiable medical conditions. Conduct investigation and assist with the prevention, management/containment of community disease outbreaks and provide report and feedback. Support quality assurance initiatives in monitoring, implementation and adherence to National and Provincial policies, Core standards and Ideal Clinic/hospital realization framework. Review and analyse data of healthcare Associated Infections (HAIs) toward strengthening implementation strategies. Plan and facilitate relevant trainings on Infection Prevention and Control and Risk management. Facilitate, guide and support Infection Prevention and Control committees. Laisse, advice and effectively communicate with relevant internal and external stakeholders regarding the availability of IPC related resources (Infrastructure, equipment and materials).
