Requirements :

  • Matric or Grade 12 with Diploma or Degree in Nursing. Registered with the Nursing Council as a Professional Nurse. Qualification and/or experience in Psychiatric /Mental Health Nursing will be an added advantage Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Strong clinical decision-making and problem-solving skill. Good communication skills, report writing skills, facilitation skills, coordination skills, planning and organizational skills, problem-solving skills, information management skills. Ability to work shifts, weekends, and public holidays when required. The advert is seeking to recruit a dedicated, and experienced Professional Nurses to render service at 72 hour Mental Health Care Unit preferably male nurses who have worked in a mental health unit will be considered

Duties :

  • Provide comprehensive nursing care to mental health care users. Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate individualized patient care. Administer medication and monitor patient responses. Manage psychiatric emergencies and crisis interventions. Maintain accurate patient records and documentation. Work collaboratively with psychiatrists, psychologists, social workers, and other multidisciplinary team members. Promote a safe, therapeutic, and supportive environment. Educate patients and their families on mental health conditions and treatment plans. Ensure compliance with professional standards, hospital policies, and relevant legislation. Work as part of a multidisciplinary team to ensure good nursing care. Work effectively, amicably with persons of diverse intellectual, cultural, racial or religious differences. Able to plan and organize own work and that of support of personnel to ensure proper nursing care. Provision of quality patient care through adherence to set standards, policies and procedures. To provide more complex nursing care that leads to improved service delivery by upholding Batho-Pele Principles and Patient’s Rights Charter. Act as shift leader in Unit (when necessary). Effective utilization of resources. Participation in training and research. Maintenance of professional growth, ethical standards and self-development. Must be prepared to work shifts and be rotated.
