Requirements :

Diploma/Degree in Nursing or equivalent qualification in nursing that allows registration with SANC as a Professional Nurse with basic psychiatric Nursing qualification. Must have a qualification in Infection Prevention & Control (IP&C). Proof of current registration with SANC. A minimum of 10 years’ experience in nursing after registration as a Professional Nurse. One year of the period above must be in IP&C program. Must be computer literate (Microsoft word, power point and excel as well as good presentation skills), effective communication skills, problem solving, facilitation, co-ordination, project management and report writing skills. Must have a valid driver’s license. Knowledge of Public Service Legislation, Mental Health Care Act, Child Justice Act, Criminal Procedure Act and Ideal Hospital Assessment Framework.
Duties :

Ensure implementation of National and Provincial Policies on Infection prevention & Control (IP&C) in the hospital. Conduct IP&C inspections in the wards and other departments, compile reports and statistics on notifiable medical conditions as required. Plan and implement the relevant awareness days according to the IP&C operational plan. Implement and maintain an effective hospital infection surveillance system in alignment with the infection control policies. Conduct formal and informal training for different stakeholders on IP&C Standard Operating Procedures and Guidelines. Strengthen and maintain internal and external collaboration with relevant stakeholders. Maintain professional growth/ethical standards and self-development. Participate in hospital committees, act as the IP&C coordinator as delegated. Be flexible and take on extra responsibility when needed.
