Requirements :

A Basic R425 qualification (i.e. diploma/ degree in nursing) or equivalent qualification that allows registration with the South African Nursing Council (SANC) as Professional Nurse plus a post basic qualification in Clinical Child Nursing and a Nursing Education Diploma or Degree registered with SANC. Current registration with SANC is a requirement. A minimum of 4 years appropriate/recognisable experience in nursing after registration as Professional Nurse with SANC in General Nursing. The candidate must be conversant with all relevant guidelines and legislation required for Child Nursing and Clinical Education and Training Unit (CETU). A BLS current certificate is required. Must work within the legal and ethical framework that governs the nursing profession and public service employees. The successful candidate must support nursing care as part of the multidisciplinary team. Actively participate in decision-making, actively participate in morbidity and mortality meetings relevant to the department and act in the best interest of quality patient care in a mother and child hospital. Relevant quality care and management of patient safety incidences to inform relevant training needs for staff employed. Good communication skills, both verbal and written. Must be computer literate.
Duties :

Support of nursing in-service programmes for permanent staff. Facilitate internal and external trainings and submission to HRD. Requesting HRD to arrange training as per staff needs identified according to patient safety incidents and complaints. Working with GCON and NEI with student needs. Attending meetings and committees regarding student and staff development and accompaniment. Providing reports to NEI, GCON and hospital management. Facilitating orientation for nurses. Actively participating in CPD training /facilitation. Student accompaniment and assistance in clinical areas. Provision of optimal, holistic specialised nursing care with set standards and within a professional/ legal framework. Effective utilisation of Human and Material resources. Participation in training and research. Provision of support to Nursing Services. Maintain professional growth, ethical standards, and self-development and continuous professional development. Promotion of a scientific, high-quality nursing care that is cost effective and efficient. Demonstrate an in-depth understanding of nursing legislation and ethical nursing practice and how it impacts service delivery. Ensure clinical nursing practice by the nursing team(unit) in accordance with the scope of practice and nursing care as directed by the health facility. Promote the quality of nursing care as directed by the professional scope of practice. Able to manage own work, time and that of junior colleagues to ensure proper nursing service in the unit. Display a concern for patients, promoting, advocating and facilitating proper treatment and care and ensuring that the unit adheres to the principles of Batho Pele
