Appropriate qualification that allows registration with HPCSA as a Medical Practitioner. Registration certificate with HPCSA as an Independent Practitioner and current registration with HPCSA as a Medical Practitioner. Grade 1 None after registration with the HPCSA as Medical Practitioner. Grade 2 A minimum of 5 years appropriate experience as Medical Officer after registration with the HPCSA as Medical Practitioner. Grade 3 A minimum of 10 years appropriate experience as Medical Officer after registration with the HPCSA as Medical Practitioner. Relevant Diploma will be added as an advantage.
Duties :

Offer comprehensive medical care to Internal Medicine subspecialty unit patients in Clinical Haematology/Nephrology/Endocrine patients. Handle referrals and transfer from level 1, 2 and 3 facilities from the Hospital drainage areas. Daily wards round in the medical wards and daily inpatient and outpatient care in the subspecialty unit. See consultations from other departments. Up-referral of properly worked-up, appropriate patients as needed. Down-referral of all stable patients to level 1 clinics, assist in updating protocols and SOP’s as required. Facilitate in-service training of junior medical officers, nurses and supplementary health professionals. Attendance of academic and district meetings and keeping abreast of developments in the field. Liaise with other general and subspecialty units/ departments/ local community clinics to assist them with consults and to facilitate transfer of the patients when needed. Familiarize self with rules and regulations with the health act and other relevant legislation. Any other duties as assigned by the Head of Department.
