Requirements :

Grade 12, Diploma or Degree in Ultrasound and Current registration with the Health Professional Council of South Africa as an Ultrasound Radiographer for 2026/2027 in the category of Independent Ultrasound.
Recommendation: include high-risk obstetric scanning experience and sound report writing. Knowledge of equipment use, troubleshooting, and quality control. Administrative skills (patient booking) and computer literacy. Knowledge of relevant Health and Safety Acts and Infection Control measures. Good communication skills, interpersonal relations and problem-solving skills. A valid driver's license.
Duties :
-
Prepare exam room and ultrasound equipment to conduct sonography examinations in accordance with infectious disease, sterilization and patient safety protocols, policies and procedures. Perform ultrasound examinations that give important ultrasound diagnoses. Use an ultrasound machine to view and interpret images with sound waves for diagnosis and treatment of medical conditions. Co-ordinate and organize daily workload and smooth running of the department. Must know the department functions. Ensure equipment is adequately serviced. Attend seminars and workshops to keep up to date with new advances in technique and technology. Monitor stock, maintain adequate weekly, monthly and patient statistics. Promote teamwork and interpersonal relationships amongst staff members and other health workers, and policies and procedures in line with applicable legislation. Promote Batho Pele principles in the execution of duties for effective service delivery. Examination request form is complete, contains relevant information and meets the standard of medical necessity. Evaluate if patient preparation is adequate before examination.
