Basic R425 (i.e. diploma/ degree in nursing that allows registration with the South African Nursing Council (SANC) as Professional Nurse. Minimum 7 years’ experience as a Professional Nurse. Diploma in Nursing Administration /Management is required. Current registration with SANC. Experience in MDR TB, TB / HIV programmes will be an added advantage. Computer Literacy. Must have a Valid Driver’s license.
Duties :
-
Implement and monitor compliance with national TB Control guidelines and policies at hospital/facility level, across all wards and outpatient departments. Coordinate TB screening, case-finding, diagnosis and treatment initiation for admitted patients and outpatients within the hospital. Oversee TB infection prevention and control (IPC) measures within the facility, including isolation protocols, cough etiquette, ventilation and staff/patient safety compliance. Coordinate contact tracing and follow-up for TB-exposed patients and staff within the hospital environment. Ensure integrated Health Information System for TB on TIER.Net. Coordinate monthly and quarterly TB reports for submission to District, verify and analyze data prior submission. Coordinate monthly and quarterly DR TB reports, verify, and analyze the data prior submission of the reports to the District and Provincial DR TB Directorate in line with the timelines. Facilitate multidisciplinary team (MDT) case reviews for complex, drug-resistant and TB/HIV co-infected patients at facility level. Monitor facility-level TB treatment adherence and retention in care, and support defaulter tracing in collaboration with ward and clinic staff. Compile, verify and submit accurate monthly and quarterly facility TB reports and indicators to the sub-district/district TB Coordinator within set timelines. Provide in-service training, mentorship and clinical support to nursing and clinical staff on TB management, IPC and reporting protocols. Liaise with the pharmacy department to ensure availability and appropriate management of TB treatment stock at facility level. Participate in and support the hospital's Infection Prevention and Control Committee, escalating TB-related risks and outbreaks as needed. Coordinate TB/HIV integration activities within the hospital in line with the 95-95-95 targets and HAST strategy. Promote and support health education and counselling for TB patients and their families within the facility, in line with Batho Pele principles. Ensure accurate patient TB records and documentation are maintained in line with clinical governance and SANC standards.
