Requirements :

• A bachelor’s degree in social work (4years). Registration with South African Council for Social Service Profession (SACSSP). Proof of current registration with the Council. A minimum of 7 years appropriate experience in the field of Social Work after registration as a Social Worker with SACSSP in health setting. Sound knowledge of Social Work-related legislations, policies, and procedures. Supervisory experience in the training of students, social auxiliary worker and social workers. Communication skills: verbal, writing and presentation skills. Report writing skills. Knowledge in health care social work and standard operating procedures. Ability to work independently and in a multidisciplinary context. Be computer literate. Drivers’ licence. Experience in health care social work will serve as an added advantage.
Duties :
-
• Ensure quality patient care through planning, organizing, control and leading roles in the department. Conduct supervision according to supervision policy. Provide guidance and support to social work staff. Control working hours and management of leave. Assist with the conducting of regular audits of social work staff. Ensure that planned intervention programmes are implemented by supervisees by providing continuous support, counselling, guidance, and advice to supervisees. Monitor. Ensure implementation of Quality assurance and develop appropriate quality improvement plans for social work services. Manage and support the programmes within the scope, professional and statutory requirements of the SACSSP and social work profession. Provide input into the compilation of the strategic and operational plans. Ensure that records of social work interventions, processes and outcomes are produced and maintained as well as compile accurate statistics. Participate and oversee the Continuous Professional Development activities. Evaluate work performance according to PMDS guidelines of supervisees. Expand communication with relevant partners and stakeholders. Represent the department at various forums and meetings; internally or externally and implement the decisions and plans taken. Participate in the recruitment and selection of staff and provide induction to new employees. Manage conflict. Manage complaints. Manage and utilize resources in accordance with relevant directives and legislation (Human, Financial, Physical, and Material resources).
