Senior certificate/ Grade 12. A basic R425 (i.e. Degree/Diploma in Nursing) or equivalent qualification that allows registration with SANC as a Professional Nurse. A minimum of 7 years appropriate/recognisable experience in Nursing after registration as a Professional Nurse with the SANC as General Nurse. A post -basic qualification in Nursing Education and Nursing Administration/Health service Management registered with SANC. A minimum of at least 2 years appropriate/recognisable experience in Education and Training Unit. Computer literacy with proficiency in MS office software applications is a requirement.
Competencies: Financial management, leadership, decision making and problem-solving skills. Knowledge of Public service policies and other health related prescripts. Sound knowledge of code of conduct. Good interpersonal skills, Human Resource Management and Labour Relations Act. Planning, organising, coordination and communication skills. Ability to take charge and independent decisions. Knowledge of administrative policies and guidelines. Preparedness to work in stressful conditions. Demonstrate an in depth understanding of legislation and ethical practices relating to Public Service and Nursing.
Duties :
-
Coordinate the education and training of staff and students placed in the facility for clinical development. Ensure availability of student’s guidance and support as well as mentoring including staff. Implement assessment strategies to determine student’s competences. Focus on in-service training of staff and student placement. Support the mission and vision of the facility by serving on committees, attending and participating in facility activities including those of Nursing Education institutions that place students in Odi District Hospital, and other stakeholders. Compose and analyse reports to improve quality of care. Participate in the implementation of the ideal hospital realization and management system. Provide direct and indirect supervision of all staff within the unit and give guidance.
Demonstrate basic understanding of HR, Financial policies and practices. Generic competences: Demonstrate effective communication with the patients, supervisors, other health professionals and junior colleagues including more complex report writing when required. Work as part of the multidisciplinary team to ensure good nursing practice. Participate in research on nursing education. Maintain professional growth and ensure self-development and that of subordinates.
