Requirements :

  • Appropriate qualification that allows registration with HPCSA as an Independent Medical Practitioner and currently registered . At least 6 months experience in psychiatry clinical services as an independent practitioner will be an added advantage. Be able to register as a candidate for MMed Psychiatry at the University of Pretoria (UP) and FC Psych SA (Colleges of Medicine – SA) (CMSA). A DMH or FC Psych Part 1 will be added advantage.

Duties :

  • The post is a 4 year joint-appointment as a registrar in psychiatry at the Department of Psychiatry at UP and Steve Biko Academic hospital. The successful candidate must provide clinical services to mental health care users at Steve Biko Academic Hospital, complete the required rotations at Weskoppies Hospital, render outreach services to the Tshwane District hospital and related clinics, participate in the department’s academic programmes, research activities and clinical administrative work. Successful candidates will be expected to rotate through all the training units as per the HPCSA, CMSA, and the University of Pretoria’s MMed Psychiatry requirements, within the 4 years.
