A Masters Degree in Clinical Psychology. Appropriate qualification that allows registration with the Health Professions Council of South Africa (HPCSA) as a Clinical Psychologist. Proof of current registration.
Duties :
-
Render clinical psychology services to patients presenting with a range of mental health difficulties, including anxiety, depression, trauma-related conditions, substance-use disorders, interpersonal and social difficulties, behavioural problems and other psychological conditions. Conduct comprehensive psychological assessments using psychometric tests and relevant skills and clinical records. Provide appropriate psychological interventions, including individual psychotherapy, group therapy, family interventions and other evidence-based psychological services. Provide operational clinical services across designated inpatient and outpatient units, including medical, psychiatric wards, as allocated according to service needs. Work collaboratively with other staff members, the multidisciplinary teams and other healthcare professionals. Participate in ward rounds, case discussions and meetings. Provide community-oriented psychological services, including mental health promotion, awareness campaigns, outreach activities and psychoeducational interventions. Maintain clinical records, reports, statistics and other documentation in accordance with departmental, hospital and relevant HPCSA requirements. Manage an allocated caseload, respond appropriately to urgent referrals and contribute to the effective functioning of the service. Participate in departmental research activities. The post requires the ability to work in different clinical areas and wards across the hospital service-points.
