Requirements :

Basic qualification accredited with SANC in terms of Government NoticeR425(Degree or Diploma in Nursing) or equivalent qualification that allows registration with the SANC as a professional nurse plus a post basic nursing qualification (PHC), with duration of at least 1 year accredited with SANC in terms government notice no 212 plus A Post Basic (NQF level 7 for a Degree) or (NQF level 6 for a Diploma). Grade1: A minimum of 4 years appropriate/recognisable experience in nursing after registration as Professional Nurse with the SANC in General Nursing. At least 1 year of the appropriate / recognizable experience after obtaining the 1-year Post Basic Qualification in the relevant specialty. (Advanced Midwifery). Grade2: A minimum of 14 years appropriate/recognisable experience in nursing after registration as Professional Nurse with the SANC in General Nursing. At least 10 years of the period referred to above must be appropriate/ recognisable experience in the specific speciality after obtaining the 1-year post-basic qualification in the relevant specialty. A valid Driver’s license and computer literacy are added advantages.
Duties :

Provide optimal, holistic, and advanced specialised nursing care within established standards and the applicable professional and legal framework in the Maternity and Obstetrics Unit. Safeguard and promote the overall health and well-being of mothers and newborns through the implementation of evidence-based maternal and child healthcare interventions aimed at reducing maternal and child morbidity and mortality. Ensure that nursing and maternal-child health services are rendered in accordance with prescribed norms, standards, and clinical protocols. Effectively manage complaints and respond promptly to all Patient Safety Incidents. Render comprehensive Primary Health Care services in line with relevant legislative and policy prescripts. Demonstrate sound knowledge and application of all legislation, policies, and guidelines applicable to healthcare service delivery, including departmental policies, the Batho Pele Principles, and the Patients’ Rights Charter. Operate and manage relevant District Health Information Management Systems (DHIMS), ensuring the production and maintenance of accurate, high-quality data. Participate in and support Quality Improvement programmes, clinical governance initiatives, and the implementation of Quality Improvement Plans. Conduct periodic clinical audits and demonstrate the ability to perform Ideal Health Facility Realisation assessments, with comprehensive understanding of Office of Health Standards Compliance (OHSC) processes and prescripts. Contribute to staff and student training and development initiatives. Exercise sound and independent management of discipline, grievance, and labour relations matters in accordance with applicable policies and procedures. Identify, manage, and mitigate workplace risks to promote a safe and effective healthcare environment.
