Requirements :

• MBChB degree. M. Med (Orthopaedics) or FC (Ortho) SA. Current registration with the Health Professions Council of South Africa (HPCSA) as an Orthopaedic surgeon. A minimum of seven (7) years appropriate experience as a Medical Specialist after registration with the HPCSA as a Medical Specialist. Experience in training and supervision of undergraduate and postgraduate students. Scientific publication in a peer reviewed journal and at least three (3) years teaching experience. Fair Understanding of basic Human Resource Finance legislation , regulations policies and frameworks. A valid driver's license.

Duties :

• The successful candidate will be responsible for the provision of Orthopaedic quality, cost effective clinical services. Full time Clinical Service provision including after-hours service (weekdays, weekends and public holidays). Organising orthopaedic services in the hospital and the sub district in order to achieve quality services . Patient management and supervision of junior medical staff. Training of undergraduate and postgraduate students. Participation in the Orthopaedics academic program. Ensure proper and accurate record keeping as legally and ethical required. Reporting to the Hospital Management on Service delivery, Clinical audits, and where necessary quality improvement plans. The incumbent will manage human, financial, assets and material resources in the Department.
