Requirements :

• Grade 12. Basic qualification accredited with the South African Nursing Council in terms of Government Notice 425, i.e. diploma/degree in Nursing as a Professional Nurse. A minimum of 8 years appropriate/recognizable experience in nursing after registration as a Professional Nurse with the SANC in General Nursing. Diploma/Degree in Nursing Management qualification registered with the SANC. At least 3 years of the period referred to above must be appropriate/recognizable experience at management level at a hospital, i.e. Operational manager level. SANC annual practicing certificate. Valid EB drivers license. Computer literacy. Verifiable proof of experience. Service certificates. Strong leadership, good communication and sound interpersonal skills are necessary.

Duties :

• The bed manager will report to Senior Manager Nursing Services and will be responsible for all functions related to bed management, including: Responsible for the day-yo-day bed management of wards throughout the entire hospital. Ensuring patients have timely access to a bed. Monito patient demand and availability of beds within the hospital to maximize the effective utilization of resources. Anticipate patients' placement on wards specific to their medical condition. Implement effective controls to monitor, evaluate and report the standards of delivery within the area of bed management. Delegate, supervise and co-ordinate the provision of effective patient care through adequate nursing care. Develop/establish and maintain constructive working relationships with clinicians, nursing and other stakeholders (i.e. inter-professional, inter-sectoral and multi- disciplinary teamwork). Participate in the analysis, formulation and implementation of nursing guidelines, practices, standards and procedures. Manage Human Resources, monitor and ensure proper utilization of financial and physical resources. Maintain Professional growth/ethical standards and development of self and subordinates.
