Basic R425 qualification accredited by the South African Nursing Council (i.e. diploma/degree in nursing) or equivalent qualification that allows for registration with the South African Nursing Council as a Professional Nurse and proof of current registration. A post-basic nursing qualification in trauma with a duration of at least one year accredited with the South African Nursing Council in the relevant specialty. A minimum of four (4) appropriate/recognizable experiences in nursing after registration as a professional nurse with the South African Nursing Council as a general nurse.
Duties :

The incumbent will work under the direct supervision of the operational manager in his/her area of allocation. Coordinate activities of other health teams and relieve the operational manager. Ensure that all quality assurance standards and other protocols are implemented during the shift. Provide specialized care to trauma/emergency patients with the constraint of available resources in an Emergency Department within a reasonable time. Management and reporting of patient safety incidents and complaints. Ensure effective and efficient nursing care and procedures are implemented according to the scope of practice.
The incumbent will be required to work the night shift, weekends, and on public holidays. The incumbent will be expected to do ward administration work/utilization of resources. Maintain professional growth and ethical standards, including self-development. Ensure that nursing procedures are implemented according to the scope of practice. Implementation of ideal hospital framework. Manage PMDS of the staff. Ensure the emergency preparedness of the Emergency Department. Lead the team when there is a disaster. Ability to manage conflicts. Maintain sound relationships with all stakeholders. Act as a shift leader in the unit (where possible).
