Requirements :

  • Appropriate qualification that allows registration with the HPCSA as Medical Specialist in Anaesthesia or recognized sub-speciality. Registration with the HPCSA as Medical Specialist in Anaesthesia is mandatory . No experience required after registration with the HPCSA as Medical Specialist in anaesthesia. Fair Understanding of basic Human Resource Finance legislation , regulations policies and frameworks. A valid driver’s license.

Duties :

  • Ensure effective and efficient anaesthesiology service delivery. Co-ordinate and supervise clinical care and treatment. Provide administrative support to the Head of the Unit. Provide guidance on issues pertaining to academic development of registrars and medical officers. Interact with the hospital’s nursing and administrative departments to ensure efficient running of the institution’s operating theatres. Uphold the teaching, research, and service values of the University of Witwatersrand Department of Anaesthesiology. Assessment and development of junior staff. Manage human and financial resources , assets and materials .
