Grade 12. Tertiary qualification will be an added advantage. Must be in possession of a Basic Traffic Diploma. Must be registered as traffic Officer (attach infrastructure). 6 - 10 years working experience in the field of Traffic Law Enforcement. Valid driving license (code B/C1/C/EB/EC/EC1). No criminal record or pending cases. Knowledge and Skills: Good record and resource management. Good planning, organizing, leading, monitoring and controlling skills. Good customer relations. Good communication skills. Excellent decision making. Analytical, conflict management and problem-solving skills. Excellent Operations/Project management skills. Duties :
-
Manage resources and provide leadership and direction to all subordinates. Identify and manage risk. Manage performance of all administrative and related duties. Implementation of innovations to improve working environment and conduct visitation to officers in the field. Perform basic management functions such as planning, organizing and control. Conduct planning, feedback, evaluation, and information sharing meetings with subordinates. Assist with human resource issues at the station and coordinate staff performance contracting and appraisals. Completion and maintenance of daily administration, statistics, including the daily record keeping of official trips (logbooks), Check Traffic officials financial reports on a monthly basis and submit financial claims on a monthly basis, Participate in planning of other agencies operations and coordinate traffic law enforcement resources and report back, Ensure optimal utilization of resources and alignment of activities enabling annual performance plan achievement, Inspection of official firearms, Submit written reports on accidents and answer representations on recorded offences within 5 days and in the process record and take statements. Enforcement Road Traffic, Public Passenger and Transport Legislation and other relevant legislations: Implement planned and approved Traffic law enforcement activities, Ensure the free flow of traffic through point duty and traffic control at congested areas, Assessment of road conditions: identification of hazarders areas, Monitoring of traffic volumes, Participate in road safety programmes, Drafting of road safety reports of area, Attend meeting with other agencies, Participate in other spatial Development framework processes. Coordinate activities at and safeguard accident scenes, identify and advise management on hazardous locations, Participate in Traffic projects and speed testing operations, Issue notices and execute arrests under relevant Acts, directives and procedures and attend court proceedings and give evidence, Escort abnormal vehicles and loads to ensure the safe movement thereof and coordinate overload control management (including goods and passenger). Provide visible traffic control/ policing and promote/ ensure crime prevention activities: plan and promote visible policing, Plan and participate in roadblocks and special law enforcement operations, Plan and execute stop and check of vehicles. Conduct learner and driver’s license test, conduct vehicle road worthiness test, monitor compliance at DLTC and VTS.
