Requirements :

  • Appropriate qualification that allows registration with the Health Professions Council of South Africa (HPCSA) as a Medical Specialist: Diagnostic Radiology.. A minimum of three (3) years appropriate experience in Diagnostic Radiology after registration with the HPCSA as Medical Specialist: Diagnostic Radiology. Fair Understanding of basic Human Resource Finance legislation , regulations policies and frameworks. Understanding of basic Supply Chain matters such as developing demand and procurement plans for the unit. Administrative and management knowledge. Project management skills. Teambuilding, people and interpersonal relations skills. Communication skills (verbal and written) Organizational and problem-solving skills. Highly motivated and enthusiastic to contribute to the radiology care and services. The ability to work under pressure, lead transformational change in a complex environment and the ability to manage change in the department. Skills/ Knowledge/competence: Good leadership skills, excellent communication (verbal and written) skills, conflict resolution and good interpersonal skills. The candidate must be able to work independently and under pressure and beyond normal working hours with a diverse team. Ability to work in a multi-disciplinary team. Aptitude for increasing the "footprint" Paediatric Radiology services across the CHBAH hospital cluster. Clinical skillset to manage high volume patient numbers, have clinical experience to adequately manage patients according to their specialty or subspecialty needs. Experience in undergraduate and postgraduate teaching, involvement in research and management skills will be of an added advantage. A valid driver's license.

Duties :

  • Provide leadership and management in the Paediatric Radiology unit at CHBAH. Perform clinical duties in areas of personal special interest and expertise. Ensure that clinical services are provided. Fair Understanding of basic Human Resource Finance legislation , regulations policies and frameworks. Understanding of basic Supply Chain matters such as developing demand and procurement plans for the unit. Collaborate and assist the HOD’s of Radiology Department in other institutions and the Cluster Hospitals whenever needed, in service delivery, teaching and training as an outreach programme. Ensure that appropriate, ethical and quality research is performed in the department as part of a wider agenda to explore improvements in health care in the Chris Hani Baragwanath area and South Africa as a whole with publication of the results in peer-reviewed scientific journals. As part of the university’s responsibility, sufficient and quality teaching must be provided to undergraduates (medical students) and postgraduates (Registrars and Fellows). Teach students in areas of personal special interest and expertise. Participate in the Radiology examinations of the College of Medicine South Africa. Ensure the employment of the previously disadvantaged individuals in terms of race, gender and disability to enhance equity. Perform commuted overtime as per departmental requirement. Contribute to Radiology planning, budgeting and procurement processes as well as monitoring and evaluation.
