A recognized three or four-year qualification, which includes professional teacher education plus 9 years’ experience in the educational field with credible, relevant management experience. Must be registered with SACE. Relevant experience in the management of staff, finance, deliverables, interventions, projects and legislative compliance. Knowledge of, and experience in supporting learners, staff and stakeholders in public ordinary and public special schools towards expanding inclusive education. Hands-on experience in facilitation of teacher development, curriculum differentiation and the implementation of Screening, Identification, Assessment and Support (SIAS). Ability to coordinate projects and tasks involving a range of stakeholders. Ability to work and be fully functional independently as
well as in a team. Competent in MS Word, MS Excel, MS Teams, MS Outlook, MS PowerPoint, as well as other virtual meeting platforms. Ability to write various types of reports, record information, general written communication skills. Ability to deliver work in required time frames. Valid driver’s license. Knowledge of the relevant education legislation such as White Paper 6, the National and Gauteng SIAS Policies, the Gauteng Policy on the Configuration and Establishment of Full-Service Schools and Special Schools as Resource Centres in Gauteng, the National Guidelines to Respond to Learner Diversity in the Classroom.
Duties :

Develop provincial strategies, consult, mediate, train, implement and report progress on the implementation of legislative deliverables related to the expansion of inclusive education. Facilitate and account for the coordination, monitoring and support of districts, schools and stakeholders towards functional School Based Support Teams (SBSTs) and District Based Support Teams (DBSTs). Facilitate and account for the coordination, tracking of progress and reporting on processes related to SIAS e.g. early identification of barriers, appropriate referral processes and procedures, appropriate support provisioning, the development and implementation of Individual Learner Support
Plans. Facilitate and account for the monitoring and supporting of SIAS implementation Facilitate and account for the functionality of Full Service Schools and Special Schools as Resource Centres. Facilitate awareness raising and capacity building in terms of learner support strategies such as assessment and examination accommodations, curriculum differentiation, including inclusive education and learner support in Whole School Improvement processes, upskilling of educators, managers and governance in expanding inclusive education. Facilitate and support school readiness processes. Manage staff in terms of performance management, operations and general HR requirements. Facilitate and account for active participation in, and reporting to GDE, Provincial and National forms and structures.
Facilitate and account for end-to-end interventions to deal with complaints, concerns and escalated requests for support. Perform any other action within the ambit of the Inclusion and Special Schools Directorate as requested by senior managers.
