Requirements :

  • Degree in Occupational Therapy. Completion of community service year in Occupational Therapy, by 31/12/2024. Registration with the Health Professions Council of South Africa (HPCSA) as an Occupational Therapist independent practitioner, plus current registration for the period 2025/2026. Work exposure or further training & education will be an advantage. Experience for Grade 1: 0-5 years, for Grade 2: 10- 19 years and for Grade 3: 20 years. Knowledge, skills and competence required: computer literacy (Ms Word, Ms Excel). Knowledge of the public service legislations, policies, and procedures. Good written and communication skills. Ability to work as a member of a multidisciplinary team. Analytical thinking, independent decision-making, and problem-solving skills.

Duties :

  • Assess and treat all adult or paediatric patients with physical or psychiatric disorders, within allocated clinical load. Assist with other clinical loads as needed. Partake in allocated administrative duties. Adhere to provincial, hospital and departmental policies, procedures, guidelines, and regulations. Participate in quality assurance methods. Communicate effectively with all stakeholders. Follow the correct channels of communication. Oversee allocated officials. Participate in CPD activities. Supervise OT students. Exercise care with all consumables and equipment.

Candidates in possession of a foreign qualification will be required to furnish the Department with an evaluation certificate from the South African Qualifications Authority (SAQA). HR will conduct Personnel Suitability Checks (PSC) and Verification Checks. The Department reserve the right to conduct verification beyond information provided, where necessary. Failure to submit all the relevant information mentioned above with the exception of HR verification checks, will result in the candidate being disqualify.
