Requirements :

  • Matric plus an B-Tech/Bachelor’s degree qualification (NQF level 7) in Security Management/ Safety/ Social Science or relevant field as recognized by SAQA. Registration with PSIRA.5 years’ experience with experience in security management of which 3 years must be at assistant director. A valid driver’s License. Computer literacy. Duties :

  • Manage physical and information security services, Assess the building to determine security needs, Manage the effectiveness of access control and property/asset protection, Advise management regarding security issues, Ensure compliance with OHS Act, Supervision of Security Service contract in terms of MPSS document, Monitoring reports and minutes of meetings held with service providers, Conduct security evaluations at GDARD sites, Conduct audits on physical security and information security, Manage the Service Provider and ensure compliance with SLA, Develop risk awareness plans/ programmes and manage the conducting of security risk awareness sessions , Liaise with SAPS, SSA and other Security Agencies on security related matters. Develop, manage and implement policies, guidelines, norms and standards in vetting and investigations for security clearance levels, Manage the vetting processes, screening of companies and Personnel Suitability Check processes, Identify posts of which the incumbents should be subjected to security screening within the department and facilitate the issuing of application forms for security clearance, Develop and maintain vetting rolling programme for staff and contractors, Advise on compliance issues related to vetting as per vetting departmental policy and procedures, Coordinate and ensure Safety and Security in departmental events, Ensure correct key management procedures. Manage and conduct investigations within the department. Manage resources (Human, Financial, Equipment/Assets) Manage the provision of coaching, disciplining and mentoring staff to improve performance, Monitor the performance of staff and ensure assessment of their performance, Control and monitor the subsection budget and expenditure, Coordinate the compilation of various reports and statistics for the section, Manage leave of sub-ordinates
