Requirements :

  • Grade 12 plus Honours Degree (NQF Level 8) in Environmental Management, Natural sciences, Engineering and Chemistry as recognised by SAQA. Minimum of 6 years’ relevant experience within environmental Field. Valid drivers’ license. COMPETENCIES: In-depth knowledge and application of National Environmental Management Air Quality Act, 2001 (Act No 39 of 2004), the National Framework for Air Quality Management and relevant Regulations. , Good communication,(written and verbal), co-ordinating, stakeholder engagement and networking skills. Ability to interpret and apply policies, strategies, and legislation. Strategic capability and leadership. Ability to collate and disseminate information. Good understanding of Public Finance Management Act, Public Service Act, and other regulations and directives.

Duties :

  • Implement the National Environmental Management: Air Quality Act (Act 39 of 2004) and the Gauteng Province Air Quality Management Plan. Effective contribution to policy development. Co-ordinate trainings and workshops for legislations. Engage municipalities and facilitate proposal for legislation amendments. Provide support to National Department and Municipalities in implementing air quality legislations and projects. Develop and manage projects that support emission Reduction in the province. Consolidate air quality management inputs to other Directorates within the Department. Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to promote awareness and understanding of environmental compliance requirements. Consolidate and submit sub-unit monthly reports. Ensure submission of PMDS within set timeframes. Performance management carried out according to standards set out in the directorate and the Batho Pele Principles. Administration of documentation according to departmental procedures. Recommendation of leave application. Ensure officials attends training or conferences as per approved indicative training.
